WHAT WE ARE

We are an ecumenical Christian initiative, and as such, are not specifically aligned with any one denomination. We believe that by partnering with a variety of churches we are enabled to equip individuals to enter a world with complex questions (and complex understandings of God). We do not wish to give simple answers to these questions, but rather to invite an exploration of personal faith in partnership with the individual’s spiritual family and support system. We therefore identify as an inter-denominational organisation.

We are a Reformed organisation in the sense that we hold to the five solae associated with the Protestant Reformation. The inspired Scripture is our highest authority for daily living. We are justified by grace through faith alone and not by works, and righteous works are merely the result and evidence of this faith. We are saved by divine grace and not of any merit or action of our own. Jesus Christ alone is the mediator between God and humanity for the forgiveness of sins. In the redemption of humanity all glory is to God alone, the sanctifier of our faith.

We are an Evangelical organisation in the sense that we believe that God is a highly personal God who desires a personal relationship with every individual made in His image. By this token, religion is subject to, and only valuable in, a living relationship with the Triune God. We intend to equip individuals to be able share the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in their spheres of influence - both in word and in action.

We are a cross-cultural organisation. We believe that a truly transformative (global) Church must be composed of people “from every tribe and language and people and nation” (Revelation 5:9). It is our fullest intention that individuals participating in the initiative will represent persons from the full scope of South Africa’s rich demographic.

WHAT WE ARE NOT

We are not, and do not ever intend to be, a replacement of the local church body. We strongly hold that it is only in a supportive faith-community that individuals can reach their full potential as Harvesters sent into God’s harvest field. Our role in equipping and empowering believers is wholly a supportive one.

We are not a Bible school or training centre. We do not grant any qualifications nor do we impose a specific self-contained doctrine on individuals in the initiative. We do however hold to the foundational truths of the Christian faith. Please see our statement of faith for further info on what we believe.
